Diatomaceous Earth are the remains of ancient sedimentary algae fossils, referred to as Diatom. The particles are measured in micrometres and whilst it has an abrasive quality, it is still soft and powdery to touch.

What is so special about Silica

Silica is the second-most abundant element in nature after oxygen. All the minerals we consume or produce in our body are utilized to its maximum potential, only when the organism is in its high silica state, which is usually when we are in our youth.

Silica is essential for collagen formation and the carrier of calcium into bone. Without it, the body will store ingested calcium wherever it can. The older we get and the more we burn out our silica reserves, the less the minerals like calcium go to the bones, where they’re supposed to. Instead it builds up in places where it’s not supposed to be; like in the arteries or as kidney stones. Many people with advanced arthritis suffer from what appears to be bone deformation, when joints lose flexibility due to loss of collagen.

Tendons and ligaments need silica and it’s biochemical by-products, to help maintain health and flexibility as you get older. So to maintain longevity in great health we must  ensure our silica levels remain high enough
